Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering
Woodhorn Matters will be present at the 53rd Northumbrian Gathering 17th April - 19th April 2020. The Gathering is held every year over the weekend after Easter. It is a festival which celebrates traditional music and culture. It is an exciting three-day annual festival of street entertainment, indoor events, music dance, craft, dialect heritage and traditional fun in the medieval town of Morpeth, 14 miles norh of Newcastle.
The festival is a true gathering of people who come together to enjoy the tradititional culture of Northumberland and the wider North East region. As well as filling the programme with concerts, exhibitions, talks and outdoor entertainment to reach neew audiences and showcase the many aspects of Northumberland's rich heritage, they have made sure there are plenty of opprtunities to join in so that songs, stories, craft skills and the very spirit of the county are remembered - and taken up by the next generation who will put their own stamp on them.
Come along to see our display of rugs and other items using upcycled fabrics. Watch how proggy, hooky and needle punch rugs, pictures, cushions, bags and footstools are made using traditional tools and methods. You may try out the techniques and discover a new hobby!
